Collaborative Regional Planning
Collaboration and regional planning today takes place over long time frames and is based upon stakeholders reviewing reports that each take a year to 18 months to produce. The underlying data and assumptions in these reports are almost never made public, hindering the ability of others to understand the results and how they were derived. SM21 identified an urgent need to change the situation by establishing a collaborative environment where all data, models, and simulations are publicly available for scrutiny along with the results derived from such information, and may be reused in a collaborative environment.
